Hi Brooke, I'm in Antwerp, but apart from the storm on Monday, it really has not been that bad at all this week. Warmer than usual in October, and quite some sunshine too.
But if you're from Tampa, it must seem cold and grey.
Have a good trip back, and thanks for the nice report.

Safe home, Brookums and Frank!
It's good to hear about a trip to savor Belgium. For too many, it is just a day stop in Brussels, Brugges, and maybe Gent or Antwerp. I felt at home with your trip as I had a college friend who worked for the State Department and did several tours of duty in Belgium and I got to visit and be shown around so many of the out of the way places in Belgium.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

Thanks everybody for your comments.
I had a great time. I wanted to mention that after much analysis I decided the Belgium people have the perfect combination of all that is good in both Germans and the French having been to both countries and fell in love with both.
The German people are strong, stoic, efficient, friendly and approachable.
The French are more quiet, elegant, and animated. The Belgium people share many of these good traits, as well as having their own distinct identity and culture.
The food was amazing, the city fun and thriving, the art surprisingly fantastic and the history staggering.
See you in all March for wherever the desire takes us.
xoxoxo

In researching for an upcoming trip to France and Belgium I luckily came across this wonderful report. Thank you so much, brookums! You really have a lovely writing style, and I enjoyed every bit of your report. For the Belgium part of my trip I've decided to split the time between Bruges, Ghent, and Brussels - so you gave me some great ideas. I won't have a car so have to see the Belgium countryside from a tour van out of Bruges. Anyway, I hope you see that your lovely report is still being enjoyed!
