Belgium SNCB trains and rail pass

My family has bought Thalys tickets to travel from Paris to Brussels and from Brussels to Amsterdam. We'd like to visit Bruges for one day during our 2-day stay in Brussels. I heard that we can get special discount on SNCB trains if we are Thalys passengers. Is it true? If I get an SNCB Rail Pass with 10 single journeys, can I use it for my family of 4 to travel at the same time and return (to use 8 of the 10 tickets)? It says on the SNCB website that a larger family pass is for 2 adults and at least 3 children and we can get 50% off, am I allowed to apply for it if I only have 2 children?

I have never heard of a discount on SNCB trains being a Thalys pax.

The 10 trip pass is valid for more than 1 adults, so yes, you can buy that for your family of 4. However, you may want to price the individual ticket prices vs the 10 trip pass to see which is cheaper.

Also, if you are traveling on a weekend, the same-day, roundtrip ticket are 50% off regular price, which should be cheaper than the 10 trip pass.

Don't know about the family pass.

YK,

Thanks for your clarification. Unfortunately we are not travelling on the weekend so can't get the 50% discount.

greg - thanks for the link. I didn't realize the ABS fare is good for "<u>two days</u> after the departure or arrival of the Thalys service. "

the OP can take advantage of this feature if she had bought ABS tickets on Thalys.

Greg,

Thanks for the link. That's exactly the info that I was looking for. It said on the Thalys website about the discount but I didn't know how I could get it. Now I need to find out how much the discount will be.
