I was in Florence last July when it was 100F and did not have AC. It cooled down enough at night so that the apartment was cool, and I kept it shut tight during the day.
Based on that info I would say no, you do not need AC at the beginning of June.
Your own tolerance may vary.

AC is the type of thing that if you don't have it and need it, you would be willing to pay three times the amount you saved to get it. That said, the room has a ceiling fan. I would take it, but would make sure it is not close to the kitchen (it happened...), not a ground floor room.

I never need AC and my husband can't sleep without it once it gets warm.
Firenze can be brutally hot in June.
Try Tourist House Ghiberti in the same price range. I think they have AC if you're like my husband.

I have been in Florence several times in June horatio and yes I would want a/c. What I think is I would pay more in order to have a/c especially if next June (assuming that is when you will be in Florence) has the hot humid weather it has had often when I have been there.

I vote for a/c also. I've been there before in June and definitely needed it.
And if you have already saved up for your June 2009 trip like I have, of course you will still be able to afford it. If not, budget faithfully. Travel is always worth it.

You might try Alloro B&B. They have AC, but I don't know what their summer rates will be. I stayed there in September and got a better rate by e-mailing than was on their website.

and most locations in florence are loud, dirty and smelly due to all of the scooters. i would definitely choose a place with aircon. last time i was in florence i stayed in a place with a triple window, shutters and aircon. well worth it.
don't worry about logos...it's just the german sense of humour...nobody else understands it either. and there is the guilt of WWII that drives him to want to stay in uncomfortable accommodations.

The trouble with picking hotels with air conditioning is they don't always turn it on. If there's a heat wave on October 1, the air conditioning's off and you swelter. Ditto May.
I personally would chance it in early June. Those old heavy stone buildings keep things reasonably cool as long as you close everything up (shutters on the windows) when you leave in the morning.
