bed & breakfast in Rome

Has anyone stayed or heard of a bed and breakfast "Belle Arti" near Porta Pia? A new travel agent has recommended it (sight unseen) and I can't seem to find any info on it. Will be grateful for any insights!!! Toley.

It appears to be in the Parioli district which is a nice residential area, but not the most conveniently located as far as being able to walk to the major sites and restaurants. I stayed in the area my first visit to Rome, 20+ years ago (while on a tight budget, and taking the advice of a travel agent). We spent very little time in our room, but I do remember everyday taking a nearby bus to Piazza Del Popola and walking from there. It is very quiet and safe in the area but it's not in the thick of things. The Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Trevi/Fiori areas I think would be preferable, especially for a 1st time visit.

How about the Relais Banchi Vecchi? It's a great little B&B near the Campo dei Fiore. It's in a great location and the price is very reasonable (for Rome).

Karen Brown's website for Italian B&B's has some great recommendations. Although I haven't stayed at Hotel Santa Maria in Trastevere, it is highly recommended and will be where I stay on my next trip as an alternative to a larger more commercial hotel.
