Beaches near Rome

Beaches near Rome
Was hoping to get some suggestions on a nice beach location that is not too far from Rome. DH and I have a free day and would love to see and relax on a nice beach. We will be there in early June. Does anyone know if there is any public transportation that could get us there or is a taxi our only option?

The easiest option is Lido di Ostia, a wide sandy beach.
You can reach it from EUR Magliana station with the regional train FC, direction Cristoforo Colombo. The train ride takes 31 minutes. The train leaves every 15 minutes. From the station Cristoforo Colombo you walk a third mile to the beach.
The beach won't be crowded in June. Water temp will be around 21° C.

Ostia Lido is actually in Rome, so it's definitely the closest beach. A single bus/metro ticket or any ATAC pass will get you there.
If you're coming from central Rome, it's better to change to the train at Piramide. It's the same Lido di Ostia train that stops at EUR Magliana, but it makes fewer stops than the metro.
The same ticket that you used on the metro can be used on the Lido train; it's good for 100 minutes.
Other beaches that are near Rome are Anzio, Nettuno (south of the city) and Santa Marinella (north of the city). All three are on train lines and have a beach in walking distance from the station.
