Beaches between Siena and Rome

Hi everyone,

Our trip to Tuscany is taking shape. We would like to spend the last two days resting, ideally in a town with a beach, good restaurants, some historical sites and churches - and somewhere between Siena and Rome, ideally closer to Rome than to Siena.

Any thoughts? What is Orbetello like?

Mike,

Can't comment on Orbetello, but you might consider Lago di Bolsena, a large crater lake between Rome and Siena. The town of Bolsena on the lake has a beach area for swimming and there are water activities (boating) available and there is also a promenade.

Bolsena has a picturesque old town with some fine old churches and a new town below.

If you felt like exploring further, Sorano, Pitigliano, Acquapendente and Orvieto are not too far. Etruscan sites and thermal baths dot the area,

Check Isola del Giglio. After the removal of the Costa Concordia ruin, it got again a lovely place.
