Beach Day Trips from Lisbom
Good morning,
I'm spending a week in Lisbon next July and I was wondering what other beach day trips I could from Lisbon besides Cascais. I won't have a car, so I'll rely only on public transportation.
Thanks,
Castellanese.

Castellanese. I want to bring this ttt again so you might get some responses.
We have only used a car in Portugal to travel so I don't know about transportation but my guess would be a bus might get you closer to beaches.
We have been to three beach areas not too far from Lisbon Vila Nova de Milfontes in the Alentejo, and also Lourinha and Salir do Porto on the Silver Coast North of Lisbon.
Lourinha is serviced by bus. We liked this beach very much and also the other two but Salir and Milfontes are more remote. I have to say that Salir is our favorite so far.
All of the beaches in July will be busy especially on the weekend.
Nazare is a large beach community and you can easily travel there from Lisbon. In August it was jammed.
I cannot give any opinion on the Algarve.
So maybe this will catch someone's eye that is more informed than I.

Hi Castellanese,
last year i went to Lisbon as well and I didn't have a car also. Lisbon has good public transportation but I found a much easier solution to get around and also to go to the beach! There's this bike rental company in Lisbon called bikeiberia, where I've rented bikes from, to go to the beach and to cycle in Lisbon. They've suggested to go to Costa da Caparica beach by bicycle, it was fast, cheap and very easy to get there.

Thank you, Oliver! I'm going to do a research about the bike rental company and that beach.
Thank you, Sher! I'll look up pictures of Lourinha to have an idea of what it's like.
Thank you, Nedsireland! I'm also going to look Troia up on the Internet to see what it's like.
Nazaré looks nice, but it seems far away for public transportation.
