Bayeux to CDG
I am trying to figure out the final details of our trip to France in July. I have several questions but will probably post them separately. Right now I need to know about how to get to the airport from Bayeux. We will have a rental car in Normandy and our plane leaves at 12 noon. Do we have enough time to drive back on the same morning or should we return to Paris the night before? Will it be faster/easier to drive or to return the car in Caen or Rouen and take the train? There are 6 of us travelling. Thanks!

If your plane leaves at noon you will need to be at CDG a good 2-1/2 hours in advance. That means you would have to leave Bayeux very early to catch the TGV from Rouen, but it's doable. You might think about staying the night in Rouen instead.

I would never plan to get to CDG by 9 am from anywhere farther away than Paris. To account for traffic and to get to the airport at least 3 hours before the plane leaves (which is what you need at that airport), you'd have to leave Bayeux in the middle of the night. Save yourself the cardiac arrest and go back to Paris the night before.
If you're apprehensive about dropping the car off in Paris, drop it off in Caen and take the train. It takes about 2.5 hours into Paris.

I have basically the same dilemna on my upcoming June trip (no car tho to save headaches from the 60th D-Day Anniversary crowds). However, I didn't realize the TGV went from Roeun to the airport? Did I misunderstand, Underhill?
I assumed a train into Paris and then local tranport from there to CDG. Thanks for any clarification. My flight leaves at 2-ish and appreciate the 3 hour heads-up.

There is, unfortunately, no direct train from Rouen to CDG, but you could take the TGV at 7:38, arriving in Paris/Gare du Nord at 9:31 and either take a taxi to CDG or over to the Gare du Nord for a 10:30 train to CDG that arrives just before 11:00.
There are other train options as well, depending on how early you want to leave.
