Bayeux hotel

I am trying to book a hotel for 4 adults, a two-year old and an infant. We'll be in the Bayeux area for 2 days only. I've seen raves on a place called La Ferme du Pressoir
and great things about Hotel d'Argouges. I checked with Hotel d'Argouges, but it's quite expensive (232 Euruos) and additional for breakfast. I'd like to stay in town as we have to head back to Paris by train on 4/29 to catch our flight. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice to help me make a decision. Thanks!

We stayed at Hotel d'Argouges two years ago. Our room was in the annex not the main house and was very disappointing -more like a motel room. The rooms in the historical house might be worth the price but not the annex. We had breakfast just across the square in the cafe/bar for a fraction of what the hotel charged but this might not work as well with small children. What do you want to do in the two days in Bayeaux - see the sights in town (tapestry and church is about it)or spend time seeing the D Day beaches and towns? Just as easy to stay outside town if you have a car and want to see the American cemetary, Pont du Hoc,etc. A place like Ferme du Pressoir might be more child friendly and flexible than a hotel. About your return to Paris for a flight - getting from Bayeux to Charles de Gaulle by train for a flight the same day might be a challenge. Where are you turning in your car? What time is your flight? There is an earlier thread discussing this question of how best to get to CDG from Normandy somewhere here on the forum. Sorry I don't remember exactly when it was. We really enjoyed our time in Normandy and hope you do as well.

I too have stayed at the Hotel d'Argouges in the main building. This was back in May 1999. Loved our room with a view facing the garden. I see their prices have gone way up. We paid 450FF at that time (don't remember the exchange rate). I liked the location.

We stayed at Lion D'or and had a great time. good location, parking onsite and lovely restaurant. We had a family room on the top floor for our group of 4 - separate sleeping area for the adults and a sitting area with pullout bed for the kids - I'm assuming the two children in your note belong to one family? If not, most hotels will make accomodations for one child in a room with the adults - crib or cot.

I have reserved 2 twin-bedded rooms for this May at d'Argouges, and each room is not nearly the 232 euros (one of our rooms is 89 euro; the other is something like 115 b/c it has an extra bed) that you quoted, or perhaps you were talking about the total for 2 rooms, which I'd think you'd need for essentially 6 people?

Thanks for all your responses. Hotel d'Argouges booked us into their largest suite, so I'm hopeful it's going to be nice. Sounds like the prices are right on from what others are saying. I realize getting from Bayeux to CDG is going to be hard, but our flight is not until 2 p.m. If we take the 9 a.m. train, it will get to Gare St. Lazare at 11:15, which should be enough time to taxi to the airport. It's not ideal, but I'm not sure what else to do.

For our two days in Bayeux our plan is to take the train from Paris to Rennes, rent a car, see Mont St. Michel, drive on to Bayeux, stay the night and see the Caen Memorial Museum the next day with hopes to book a half day tour of the beaches from there. If we have any spare time after all that, then we'd like to explore Bayeux a bit. I wish we had another day!
