Batobus?

I am thinking of doing the Batobus for a couple of days in Paris. Has anybody done this? Was it fun and easy?

The Batobus is just a river bus that runs up and down the Seine. We used it last summer when the temps were in the 90s and we just couldn't face walking another block. Its advantage is that it is a straight line down the river, unlike some of the buses and the metro. Yes, it was fun and easy. There are tickets booths at every stop. I believe you can buy a one day pass, perhaps even more, but we just used it from near Notre Dame to the Louvre.

We had dinner on a glass-covered batobus which was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend the experience whatever the cost. There is nothing like drifting by the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame while eating dinner. Have fun!

That does sound wonderful! But this is a boat that goes up and down the river and lets you off at difference sites (Louvre, Notre Dame, eiffel tower, etc). I didn't know how far each site was from the river, but it seemed like a great way to visit several places without going on the tube or bus. It is pretty inexpensive and you can buy a 2 day pass (for about $14.00). I thought it sounded fun; wanted to see if anyone else had done this.

$14 pass is waste of money. You will try it once as a novelty, but it is too slow to offer practical transportation purpose. Someone else confused this with dinner and tourboats. This is just a slow bus on water.

Well, when you are tired of walking a slow boat on water can be fun, don't you think?

Too slow for what? It was hot, we were under cover, sitting down, viewing both sides of the Seine go by. Is seeing Paris some kind of race? But, Betty, you might not use it enough to warrant the $14 pass--your call.

I'm with Betty - I have 2 kids (7 & 10) that will probably get tired of too much walking. The slow boat could be just the ticket! Especially since our hotel is about 2 blocks from St.Michel/river.

They have an English website, and the 2- day pass is $ 11.50 adults, $ 6.00 for kids. Has a map of the 8 stops as well.
If you're staying close to one of the stops, it sounds like a good idea.
http://www.batobus.com/english/index.htm
You also get a discount (I think it is one third) off the price if you have a valid Carte Orange or Paris Visite.

Well, I still think it will be a fun way to visit several sites, and when I get back I will tell everyone all about it. (I am not going until the first week in Sept - but I will write about it then). Thanks everyone!

Well, Betty, why did you ask? You seem to have already made up your mind before you got any answers. Why did you waste our time asking for opinions?

It's okay to be optomistic but it's not smart to get defensive about something you haven't experienced. How are you going to feel after you return, find it's a dud, but you've already posted messages recommending the thing? Take the Batobus once, okay, but it's nothing you'll use repeatedly. Tired? Sit down on a chair or bench anywhere, not just after waiting on line to get on the water bus.

Betty,

If it sounds fun then go for it! If you don't end up liking it, big deal, you're only out ten - fifteen bucks. Personally I can think of MANY worse ways of spending my time then going up and down the Seine looking at the beautiful sights.

Have a great trip!

Strive

If you can't have fun on this web-site and enjoy asking questions and hearing the different opinions - just find something else to look up with your computer. My mind WAS NOT made up until I had a couple of positive reactions. I guess I am just a nice person - some people are "poop heads".
