I can't answer your question about Conversano, but as for the airport, Amtab runs frequent buses from the square outside the train station in Bari to the airport. The ride takes about 1/2 hour. I had a good experience at the Hotel Adria in Bari, just steps from train station and bus stop. Hope that helps!

Conversano is served by an independent railway, Ferrovie del Sud Est. Trains go from Bari Centrale approximately every hour and take about 40 minutes to Conversano.
