We have not had this discussion in months.

Madrid-Better museums, a Spanish city, centrally located to visit worthwhile towns

Barcelona-Unusual sense of style and design, international city, distinct culture and language.

I have seen on your other post that you are interested in
history and culture.
You may wish to read a bit about Spain before deciding where to go.
Madrid is a bigger city. It has 3 world class museums and a lot more..
Barcelona is a Mediterranean city with Catalan culture and language, Gaudi architecture, beaches, great place to walk around. For some travelers it is not"Spanish" enough.
I find it more interesting than Madrid.

Thanks Danon
You mad the decision easy for me. I got the air ticket for Barcelona. I leave in two weeks. When I am there, try to visit the Granada too. I have been in the Tenerife few years ago. Happy that I am going back to Spain.

Even if you had decided to do Madrid your decision would STILL have been a good one.

this rather elementary school level snit flares up about Barcelona vs. Madrid all the time..BOTH are great in their own way and I know you want to go to Granada but missing Madrid in favor of that and the Alhambra...not such a great decision IMO but to each their own.

I will miss the national Holiday.I leave in OCT 14.
Do I have to book a ticket for Alhambra when I am in Spain. I did not reserve a air ticket form Barcelona to Granada. Do I have too?
This is a great site. I got answers to all my questions. I opened this site by accident. Thanks to everyone who reapplied my query.
Thanks Dukey. I might visit Madrid too.

I would suggest that you look ahead at air tickets to Granada. We have found Vueling to have some fairly decent fares and they fly in and out of the main city airports in Europe.

Have fun...you will enjoy Barcelona! (One of my favorite cities.)
