The restaurants in the back, that serve all sorts of fresh fish, are excellent -- I had grilled cuttlefish and razor clams last November, and it was one of my most memorable meals of the year.

I would't call myself a "market" person but La Bouqueria is certainly one of the most interesting and entertaining food markets I've ever seen. Lots of interesting food to look at (and taste) and lots of interesting people to talk to.

I hate the expression "you can't miss it" when talking about directions . . . but in this case, I don't see how you can miss it. I guess if you can't find Las Ramblas, you might have a problem.

Sant Antoni Market
every Sunday, including vacation time, from 8:30 h to 14:30 h., you can find a world of collectibles. Old books, postcards, posters, comics, trading cards, paper dolls, games, dvd, figures, minerals, lp's, coins ...

If you need any further persuasion here are a few of our pics from June this year. Great place for buying raw produce if you're cooking, pulling up a stool to the counter if you're looking to eat, or just wandering and taking pics if you're not hungry (though you will be after 5 mins in here!)

Obviously, the original post is from 2009, but I feel I must comment:
La Boqueria is an absolute "must visit" market, but Mercado Central in Valencia is, at least as good as La Boqueria.Or even better, less crowded, bigger , and the building is a marvel!

One hopes after 7 years the OP has found La Boqueria. Well at least he/she will not be hungry.
