Barcelona, Madrid, beach - need help with itinerary

Hi there,

I am new to this forum. Wondering if anyone has any trip itinerary advice for me.
I am planning a 9 or 10 day vacation to Spain some time in June. We are heading to Barcelona and Madrid, and afterwards I'd love to spend 2-3 days at the beach. I'm thinking Costa del sol, but perhaps there's a better option? Maybe a beach location in Portugal even?
Thanks in advance.

The Spaniards go north for their beachs such as San Sebastian.

If you has plans to go to Barcelona already, why you just keep it simple and go to Catalonia beaches as well? You can choose between going to Costa Brava (north of Barcelona) or going to Costa Dorada (South of Barcelona). Both are really great locations, and you can reach them form Barcelona without any problems. You could go for example to Calella de Mar or Tossa in Costa Brava (blue and transparent waters) or going to Tarragona, where you'll find nice beaches and roman ruins, an amusement park...

Check this post I founf about Costa Brava http://www.desigbarcelona.com/blog/e...costa%2Bdorada

See ya!!!

I would also suggest marvellous San Sebastián; the best city beaches in Europe, fantastic food and a culture that people take great pride in. The article "A different kind of Spain" gives you an idea of San Sebastián and the region: http://marshlands.blogstream.com/

With only 9-10 days to visit Madrid & Barcelona if you also want to visit a beach for 2 days I'd definately suggest the Costa Brava north of Barcelona. You're really going to be short on time to squeeze this beach time in so logistically the Costa Brava works.

Yes, I'm agree with Cathy and with Emma... You should try to go the beach near Barcelona, either to Costa Dorada (south Barcelona) for going to Salou beahes, or to Costa Brava (north Spain) for going to Tossa de Mar o Callela de Mar. Beautiful and blue beaches and they're not crowded if you go in June...

I agree with Richard, Cathy & Emma. We spent a day last October driving along Costa Brava & it is so beautiful. We stopped in Tossa de Mar, which is gorgeous. 9-10 days is not a lot of time, so you don't want to waste time traveling all over.
