Barcelona in September- AC required?

I'll be there the first week in September. Obviously weather can be unpredictable, but generally speaking, would you think AC is required. I'm thinking about booking a room with a balcony over the Ramblas. My fiancee is worried about the heat.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

<<My fiancee is worried about the heat.>>

You have already answered your own question. I'd say you should have it. Even Columbus, Ohio can "require" air conditioning in early September.

Best wishes,

Rex
you will need air conditioning -- not only to shut out the heat, but to shut out the noise. The Ramblas is a busy street! I always want to be able to close my windows in a big city.

August is usually very hot and can be muggy. I can't believe it would cool down enough by the first week in August not to appreciate AC. Sandy is right; you would find sleeping in a room on the Rambas with the window open, very hard. People from Barcelona do not go to bed early. There will be noise well into the small hours.
