BARCELONA hotels (??)

I've not been to Barcelona in about ten years and there are many new hotels that I am not familiar with.
I want to stay on the Passeig de Gracia, or just off that street, NOT in the Barrio Gotico.
I will stay about a week or so.

I found two hotels that look good and would love to know your experiences with either of these, or with any upscale/luxury hotel in that area.

These are the two that look good to me, but I am open to ideas; trip would be in early March; from Barcelona I will travel next to Vejer de la Frontera, most likely by plane.

ALMA

MAJESTIC

MONUMENT

Gracias!!

We’ll be staying at Hotel Granvia in just a few days. It’s in that same general area you are looking. Will let you know what we think. Remind me the features or details you are looking for and I’ll make note of them, and can pop into the others on your list if I get a chance.

I haven't stayed at the hotels you mentioned, but a couple of years ago we had a wonderful stay at Casa Sagnier on the beautiful Rambla de Catalunya in the Eixample. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms and bathrooms were beautifully designed. Be sure to book a room with a balcony overlooking Rambla de Catalunya.

Thanks..J62, I stayed at the Granvia when I visited Spain after high school graduation (for school).
And I stayed there again in the very early 2000s. I have an attachment to the hotel. It used to be old and dark, but with a beautiful breakfast room. I'd love to hear about your stay there; it's not part of a shaun, I think NH, and they always have good properties.

Vonse, I saw that hotel but for a reason I forget,, eliminated it. But I just read a few reviews and HOTEL SAGNIER is now on my Barcelona list, thanks again!!

Update, the ALMANAC looks good and it's Virtuoso,, in similar location as the others. Has anyone stayed here?

Looks as if I need to book very soon!

There is a big tech festival in the city ending 5 March, so that's why many hotels are booked, I imagine.

Thanks so much, amiga!

By now I've looked at about ten hotels and all are booked for the first part of my desired dates.
If I have to, I could arrive a day or two later, to avoid the night of the 5th.

I'll keep looking. I don't have. my air tickets yet, so that's a relief!!

I'm not even 100% set on. Barcelona. I wanted to go somewhere for about a week before returning to Vejer, and I've not been to Barcelona in almost ten years......and they have inexpensive flights direct to Jerez from there. That's the key--I need a place from where I can easily get to Jerez airport, where I will rent a car.....

Ii just received this response from my Virtuoso agent:

<<<<The Mobile World Congress is running from March 2–5, 2026. It’s one of the world’s largest events for the mobile/telecom industry, attracting over 100,000 visitors.

There is no availability at any good hotels over those dates.

Can you adjust your dates to arrive on March 6th and check out March 13th?

Warm regards,
xxxx

Hi Crunchita!
I’ve stayed at the Almanac as well as the Majestic. The Almanac rooms are quite big and if you get one of the Almanac rooms, you’ll get a huge window allowing for ample natural light and nice views. It also has a nice rooftop. Maybe it lacks some of the old world charm, but I liked my stay there due to the large room and the hotel’s location.

I stayed at Hotel Granvia last year. We really liked the hotel, and the terrace for breakfast is a nice touch. If nothing else, I would go back for the fresh squeezed orange juice. 😀

It's a while since we have been in Barcelona, but my favourite hotel there is Hotel Arts in Puerto Olympico . I don't think it is too far from where you are looking but certainly worth considering

Yes,the Arts is beautiful outside; I've never been inside, but it's too far for me to walk to Eixample from there.....but many thanks..!

I found the Majestic to be a bit tired. I preferred the room at the Almanac. The Cotton House is also nice.

Oh, no!!! I'm in the midst of booking the MAJESTIC!!! Because of this big tech conference, it was hard to get space, so I went to Virtuoso--I use them pretty often if my desired hotel is on their list...

Hotel Casa Fuster is located on Passeig de Garcia and we had a wonderful stay there in September 2024. They have a very nice breakfast, a fun rooftop bar and our room was very spacious. The staff were very professional and very helpful when needed. I would not hesitate to stay there again if we find ourselves needing a hotel in Barcelona!
