barcelona hotel - with a pool and near metro
I posted before and got tons of help with costa brava so i'm turning to you guys again!
hubby me and our (then) 7 month old going to be in barcelona for a few nights (1 night before a cruise and then a couple more nights at then end of our vacation after a stay in costa brava). would like to use the same hotel for both stays (just easier).
We are going to try to check out most of the major sites but would also like somewhere to relax in late afternoon (particularly if it gets hot). Needs to be easily accesible to metro and would like a pool. Decent sized room a plus since we will have the 2 of us plus a crib.
Thanks in advance for all your help!

you don't necessarily need to be near a metro stop for visiting barcelona itself. the buses are great and certainly will be near or in front of most hotels.
easier than carrying stroller down steps, etc. also.
i prefer the bus except for very long distances.
buy a bus/transport card with 10 rides at kiosks and you can both use same card.
the bus/transport card may also be good for the metro.at least it is in other cities.
Hopefully a local will chime in.

My parents once stayed at the Barcelona Universal, which is right next to the Parallel metro and a bus stop. It has a (small but decent) pool and is very close to the cruise port. The rates are quite decent as well.

I just topped a thread about BCN hotels with pools, so go read it as there are suggestions there.
Lincasanova is right about the metro with a baby. It is not half as convenient as the bus, and you miss all the great scenery.
Enjoy!

Hi italyinjuly
I recently stayed at the AC Barcelona, and while it isn't in the center of things (it's near the water), it does fit your requirements. It has a nice pool on the roof, and is around the corner from a metro stop (Meresme Forum) that we used to get to the Passieg de Gracia (I'm probably not spelling that right) and to the Gothic Quarter.
We stayed here on the advice of lincasanova, and we loved it. There is also a free minibar in the room.

I stayed at Hotel Ciutat de Barcelona which has a roof top pool (very small). Plus itīs located in the trendy El Born area near Barrio Gotico, right near the Picasso Museum, and lots of tourist sites.
