Coquina/ tellina/ tallarina
Ekscrunchy! I will stand corrected! I have just looked this up and in Catalán it IS tallarina. wow.. sorry. You were absolutely right!
"Tellinas" is in Castellano. Oh well. It's good to know the difference and also the similarity of that word with a long pasta!

This fresh seafood market has these clams in their photo propaganda.. not sure if this is what you are looking for but they look like tellinas to me, but I'm no expert.

Nina: Take a look at this article from the NYTimes, about moderately priced eateries:

Thanks, ekscrunchy. DW and I enjoyed a nice celebratory birthday at Hisop's in Barcelona based on your review (and pedigree).
The Tasting menu is up to 61€ but offered a nice way to try many eclectic and complex foods/flavors.
We stayed in El Born so it was a bit of a trek. We had 4 leftover Metro tickets so we had some fun getting there too (the night bus back was particularly noteworthy).
I'll put together a TR but I wanted to drop you a note in case you miss it.

Hi, Indy!!
I so appreciate comments on my reports, and on my recommendations..the feedback is what makes the effort worthwhile. I am pleased that you had a good trip, and a good meal at Hisop. I'd love to read your report when and if you find the time to post it here!!
I am planning a trip to Spain (and maybe Lisbon as well) in October/November so look for my report here after that..again, thank you for your kind comments.

Top for Marsha...this was 7 years ago, but I believe the flat let agency is still enjoying a good reputation. They were very helpful to us, and not only with the flat itself but with arrangements like taxi to airport when there was a strike, internet questions, etc.
