Barcelona/Costa Brava/Pyrenees itinerary!
Hello! We will be in Barcelona/Northern Spain in late April, and have 4-5 days to explore the outer area (and we will probably rent a car.)
We would like to spend a little time in Costa Brava, perhaps kayaking. Have heard that Cadaques is a quaint village-- are there any other recommendations of a good town to spend the night in, maybe something with some good castle ruins to explore?
We would also like to do some walking in the Pyrenees-- nothing overly ambitious, just a few hours and some nice views. Again, any recommendations of walks/towns to base this out of. We also would be interested in going into southern France.
We are in our early 30s, and prefer walking, kayaking, exploring old castles and ruins; not big museum people, but if there is something of note we will check it out (not sure about the Dali Museum-- would like to hear from people who have been.)
TIA!
Kate

If you get over the border to France and end up in Eaux Bonnes, I would very much like to hear of any hotel or restaurants. We are planning a trip to France in September to Paris, Provence and the Pays Basque. My mother spent some time in Eaux Bonnes as a pre-teen and she want to go back. We are having a hard time finding much information here. Thanks!

Puigcerda, near the French border of the Pyrenees, is a nice little quaint town to explore and walk around in. You'll see some nice views of the valleys and mountains in this town. Llivia (in France) and La Seu d'Urgell (Spain) are also nice small towns up there.
The Dali museum in Figueres is interesting with some of the weirdest, fun and sometimes amazing art work that you'll ever see. At some point, you may ask what kind of drugs was he on when he created this art form? It was a quick 2-hour stop near the border of Spain/France.

Check out the parador in Aiguablava. It has the most spectacular views and is well-located to explore.

I did a three-day drive from Barcelona through Cardona, the Pyrenees and then to Girona. If you want a copy of the trip report, send me an e-mail to [email protected]
Three days was too short for the drive and I did not see as much as I wanted, but the drives were spectacular!
Regards Ger
