Barcelona Aug.1-5th Help with lodging/itinerary

We are traveling with our adult son to Barcelona for the first time and need help planning lodging, transportation from airport and itinerary for 5 days, 4 nights. Enjoy dining, day trips to close towns, wineries, history, and our 28 year old son would enjoy some evening activities for his age range.

Thanks,
Sharon

What is your budget?

Thank you Nikki, I have looked at mairibelsguides and have found it helpful. Danon, we are looking for hotels, preferably in the moderate price range in a safe area, thinking Born. Need a double with a couch.

Not sure what your son's interests are, but when he is looking for clubs or music venues, the Arena clubs and the Razzmatazz are a pretty popular, without a difficult door policy. Few if any clubs get busy or open before midnight, most 2am or later. Going out to clubs usually means that you won't get home till 6am. Taxis are everywhere and cheap.

One open word re. drugs: While Spain is far more liberal than most people may think, it is really unwise to engage in any of this. Even though the availability and consumption seems to imply that there are no legal consequences. Which is not true.

Otherwise the bars/cafes in Born are also popular among the younger crowds, i.e. the Baroc cafe. Other places to start the night would be in the vicinity of the University and neighboring Raval -- which the ole folks usually find too dangerous. Going to bars/cafes can be a bit more of a lonesome adventure in Spain than in the US, as most Spanish youth sets out on their nightly escapades with friends. It might be worth while for your son to use his social media connections to see if he can find one, two locals who let him join the party.

Big thing on summer weekends are the beach parties/clubs, obviously. Both BCN got them on the boardwalk between Barceloneta beach and Port Olimpic, but also in nearby Sitges. While Sitges is a pretty popular gay spot, the beach clubs/ parties are mixed and non-exclusive.
