Barcelona apartment location input please

Hi,

I'm considering this apt on Barcelona Habitat Apt. http://www.habitatapartments.com/en/...view/ninot.htm

I'd like some feedback on location - mainly if it's a safe neighborhood. I've been to Barcelona 2x but stayed in Barri Gotic both times; and haven't been to this particular part of Eixample.

Here's a Google map of the apt:
http://www.flipkey.com/barcelona-con...p-location-nav

Thanks in advance!

It looks good to me. It is right by the Ninot market, which looks good. We stayed a few blocks away and I don't remember this exact area, but that whole section of the Eixample is nice, I think.

Hi, it is a very good location.
We were in Barcelona in April and stayed not far ( a bit further north)
Another time we stayed a few streets south. I like that part of Eixample/
in lees than ten minutes one can be at Cerveceria Catalana!

I agree with Danon and Nikki--superb location. Not only is it easy to walk to sights, but it is very well located for food shopping (markets) and good places to eat.

Hi yk,

I hope that you will write a back about the apartment. We will be there for Thanksgiving and it might work for us. I would love your feedback. I have looked at apartments until I am dizzy.

eks, thanks for your input too. I'm going to dig up all your Barcelona trip reports and take notes on good places to eat nearby!

nancygol, I've gone ahead and booked the apt. However, we won't be there until October... I assume you don't want to wait that long before booking it? Truthfully, I'm booking this particular apt simply because it's the cheapest for our dates. The handful of reviews available on the website aren't too terrible. Good luck with your apt hunting!

yk, as you probably noticed the apt. is close to metro line L5
so one can take the train from the airport and change at Sants.

The apt looks very nice and big. Also, seems quiet.
How long are you staying?

yk, we'll be back in Barcelona this November so look forward to your trip report (your previous Modernisme report was very helpful for our trip last year).

Nikki, if you're reading this, we'll be again staying in what we call: "Nikki's apartment!"

danon, thanks for the tip about Line 5. I guess "Hospital Clinic" is the closest station. Even though my last trip was < 2 years ago, I feel like I have forgotten so much about the nuts & bolts of Barcelona. I should read my own trip report for a refresher.

We are staying for 6 nights (5 full days) this time. My parents have been all over the world but never to Barcelona, so it's really a trip for them. Well, DH is coming too and he too hasn't been to Barcelona.

mvor, thank you for your kind words. I hope you have a lovely vacation too!

I am plotting another visit in the fall .

Next week I am off to Berlin for the third time. Still a lot to see. Hope to go to Hamburg overnight.

This is a great location: safe and central. Make sure you walk up the nearby street Enric Granados all the way up to Diagonal. When I lived in Barcelona, I used to wander up there all the time and fantasize about living in one of the beautiful apartments...maybe in my next life!

Enjoy!

Just returned from a week in Barcelona. I stayed in an appartment in Eixample next to the university. Eixample is great where ever you are and is safe. But as you are probably aware, Barcelona has a reputation for pick pockets. Not to worry, just be smart.

Hi yk,

I saw that you will be in Barcelona next week at the Ninot apt. Please let us know how you like it. We have booked the same apartment over Thanksgiving.

Thanks in advance

nancygol, I promise I'll report back, likely with a lengthy trip report too. So far, the reviews on the web I can find about this apt has been fairly favorable.

nancygol, we're back from our trip. The apt is very nice, except for one minor issue. There was plenty of hot water in the sink faucets but not hot enough in the showers. I suspect the thermostats for the showers were set too low. I have told the property manager & Habitat about this, and they did try to get it fixed, but unable to resolve the issue by the time we left. I would suggest you contact Habitat to ensure this has been resolved by the time of your stay.

I will post more about the apt next week when I have time.

P.S. I have a few rides left on my T-10 ticket. If you want it, I can mail the ticket to you. You can email your address to me at yk fodors at hotmail (no space between my screen name and fodors).

Hi yk

Thanks so much for this alert. I have not been on this site and just saw your post. Just called Habitat to see if the problem had been resolved. I guess the owner is responsible and not Habitat. Your offer is so nice, but unfortunately, we leave on Tuesday

If you can please do a TR. I can't wait to read about your trip.
