Barcelona and Madrid, Hotels, Transportation

Traveling to Barcelona and Madrid in March and looking for upscale hotels for a family of four in one room and with good locations. Suggestions please. Also, what is the best way to travel between cities? Any tour guide suggestions?

"upscale hotel for a family of four - one room”. Will this be two adults and two children, or some other combination? What is your budget? It would help in making a recommendation, as would the dates of your travel.

If you're a typical family of four, then the train between Madrid and Barcelona is an excellent option. Flying might also be an option depending on how much luggage your carrying, etc., and how much time you want to spend in the airport.

You may want to download Maribel's Guide to both Barcelona and Madrid for reference (http://maribelsguides.com) and check out the following web sites:

We are traveling with two children twelve years old and prefer a nice four star type hotel. Prefer a hotel that we could put four in one room but those are hard to find in Europe. We will have luggage as we are there for eight days. Any other suggestions?Appreciate the help!

The Hotel AC Diplomatic (Barcelona) has 2 suites that can accommodate your family. They will add the extra beds for the children. The AC Barcelona has both suites and junior suites available. The Hotel Arts in Barcelona has 27 apartments.

Other hotels in Barcelona to consider are: Hotel Duquesa de Cardona, Aparthotel Bonanova, Hispanos 7 Suiza and Acacia Hotel, all of which can be booked through Inns of Spain web site (http://www.innsofspain.com).

There are several good options in Madrid, but you should look into the newly opened 3-star Hesperia Hermosilla, in the Salamanca district of Madrid, a very nice, upscale neighborhood. There is also Los Jeronimos, another great Inns of Spain property (http://www.innsofspain.com/hotelview.aspx?h=1142).
