Barcelona airfare-what is reasonable?

Hi. Trying to book tickets from NY to BCN in late April'05. The best fare I am getting is $549 on Iberia. Is this a reasonable fare. All of my Europe trips have been Jan-Mar to take advantage of low fares, so I don't really have a feel for the prices during the higher season. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

With taxes? it seems reasonable if iiit includes all taxes and all fees. If you wait another 30 days, I'd reckon on an "upside/downside" probability of 40% at -$50 and 20% +$50-100

Maybe also a 10% chance of -$150.

If this doesn't seem to make sense, see http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34550947 (Date: 01/09/2005, 04:26 pm)

As with all fares, so much depends on how picky you are; is the fare you're finding optherwise "perfect" to you? (non-stop? or good routing? times and dates exactly as you want?)

Best wishes,

Rex

That's an intriguing, teasing answer, intrepidOne... did you actually find a substantially better fare than macksix lists? If so, was it on mobissimo or on itasoftware? And why not say what you found? (so, so much can depend on the actual dates one searches)

I tried Apr 23-30 (Sat-Sat) and Apr 20-27 (Wed-Wed) and there were no non-stops yielded, and only trivial differences between several different departure times on Iberia. As might be expected, the Webdensday itneneraries were about $60 cheaper, but this may not be relevant to the travel plans that macksix needs.

Does ITAsoftware yield much different results? (does it require some download?)

Thanks to all of you for your feedback. The dates are need to stay within about a two week timeframe (4/17-4/30), so I will follow up on all of your suggestions to see what I can come up with. Thanks again!
