We will only have 4 days in Barcelona but we are high energy. It looks to me like the Sagrada Familia , Casa Mila and Parc Guell are all in the same area. I think there is a walking tour that starts at 10:00 also in the same area. Is it doable to to visit each of those in one day and possibly include the 2 hour tour? We would also like to see the Catalan Concert Hall which gives tours between 10-3 (with reservations). Is that close to the other sites that I mentioned? I thought we might do that another day. How far is the Catalan Art Museum from those attractions; it seems like it is a bit of a trek. We will be staying in the Born are and will visit the Picasso the day that we arrive. A couple of other attractions that sound interesting are Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu. Any thoughts on that. Thanks for all of your help.

Not that close. Our friends that live in Barcelona (one is native) were shocked that we did them all in one day.

Casa Mila and La Pedrera are in the same neighborhood, but Parc Guell is not. We were there for 5 nights and managed to see alot but I recommend you walk around and enjoy, especially the Parc.

it basically depends on what time of year you are traveling, and the depth of your interest in Gaudi. In the summer, you can wait in line for almost 2 hours to go up to the Sagrada Familia towers and rooftops, and the exhibit at the top of La Pedrera is really fascinating, but, really takes time if you want to explore nit in depth This is a very useful site for planning.

Seriously bring great hiking shoes and socks along. You can explore much of Barcelona on foot, but the distances, while always interesting, can be long.

Oh thanks, we are traveling in May. So it sounds like we could do Sagrada and Casa Mila in one day. Is it doable to add the walking tour on that day as well. Are we best going to Sagrada first thing in the morning??No problem about walking.

Barcelona has a very good and cheap Metro, no need to walk everywhere.
Wearing hiking shoes in May may not be that comfortable.

Good point about lineups... we have given up several times on Casa Mila before we finally made it.

I was just in Barcelona in December and we decided to do one of those hop on, hop off bus tours that brings you to all of the must sees. Metro is great, too. The first time we showed up in the morning to get a ticket to tour the Catalan Concert Hall, it was booked already (and it was December, not high season) so we decided to see a show in the evening, which was even better for the same price as the tour. You might want to check out the concert schedule to see if there's anything of interest performing while you are there.

Going to Barcelona for 6 days in June. Staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar. Will be using public transportation to the old city. Trying to decide if Barcelona will take up the 6 days or if I should plan day trips. Had thought about a day trip to Madrid. Would love to go to the concert hall, but it is doubtful there are performances during the summer. Any info will be appreciated.

I just checked the concert hall's schedule (http://www.palaumusica.org/) and it looks like they have concerts on June 2,7,18 and 19th. Not sure if any of those dates would work for you. I would definitely plan a day trip. We went to Figueres (about a 2 hour trainride north) to the Dali musuem, which was fantastic.

In my experience the "key" to a Sagrada Familia visit is get there <B>early</B>. yes, we know you're on vacation, etc., etc., etc., but there aren't any Sagrada Familias in your home town.

Montserrat is another possible daytrip; I would NOT do one to Madrid because there's as much to see there as there is in Barcelona if not more.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately we do not arrive until the 8th and leave the 14th so none of the dates work for concerts.
I keep reading that I must go to the museum in Madrid. Will research Montserrat and Figueres for sure.

Did you both use the bus, metro, or private car for your day trips?

travisblue is of course so right about Casa Mila and La Pedrera being the same building. I commented above about Casa Mila and La Pedrera being close. I should have said that La Pedrera (Casa Mila) and Casa Batlo are close together.

We've visited Parc Guell and Sagrada Familia in one day, even walking between them. Timewise you might even squeeze in La Pedrera, depending on the line, but you'd be tuckered out.

The Palau is a spectacular building. So is the cathedral, the Santa Maria del Mar church in El Born and many others.

But be sure to take the time to just stroll around, particularly in the Old City where surprising little squares and beautiful buildings abound.
