This week's NYTimes features Barcelona in its 36 hours section and lists a hotel I've not heard of in Barcelona--Market Hotel. Check it out on google, just use Market Hotel Barcelona. They claim rates as low as 60 euros. It's very design conscious and looks fine. Certainly looks clean and friendly. Near the Sant Antoni market, it's not right in the middle of any "happening" neighborhood, but it's sort of between most of them--Placa de Catalunya, Eixample, El Raval. The place has 378 rooms, so you should be able to find out available.

I've already checked Market Hotel. It has no vacancies at the time!

Type in Barcelona Hotels in the "Search Area" here, and see what transpires. Also, use www.TripAdvisor.com to check hotels and the reviews of them! Also go to www.Expedia.com as well as www.Travelocity.com and www.Venere.com to see some options and suggestions.

Try Jazz Hotel. I had planned to stay there but opted to stay at another venue The Axel Hotel. I think I will be more, but I wanted the experience as well as the ambience.

we looked into renting an apartment. As there are only two of us, the prices were much higher than taking a hotel or Hostal room. most of the apts. sleep 4-8 people and are priced accordingly.
