Bamberg Inexpensive Hotel
Aiming for Bamberg--6 nights mid-May.
Have quite a list of hotel possibilities that sound pretty good for 60E and less each night.
Travelling by train so prefer half-way between it and the old town, if possible.
Limit of 50-55E per night, single room.
Anyone with personal experience with Bamberg hotels or Gasthaeuser that fit the bill?

We stayed at this apartment mid-way between station and old town. 55 Euros/night. Clean, roomy place, helpful owner.

We stayed at the Brauerie Spezial a couple of years ago; the price then was E55 for a double with bath and breakfast. It is also between the station and the old town. http://www.brauerei-spezial.de/

If you are still looking for somewhere, check out Hotel Alt. I stayed for two nights at New Year and paid 76 euro for two nights, single room, including a really good breakfast. Although it is right in the centre of the town, and you may think it is too far from the railway station, it isn't. I walked it with a huge suitcase and backpack, flat easy and interesting 20 minute walk. I found it was also great to be just around the corner from the centre where all the action is. The people at the hotel were also helpful and friendly.

No its not the Ringlein. Here is the link:

Now that I've been to Bamberg, I wouldn't stay near the railway station - its so much better to be right in the old town - I found I just easily popped back to the hotel off and on during the day and night, and literally its just around the corner from where everything is. It isn't flash but it's not grotty either, and definitely worth checking out. I would stay here again.
When I first arrived I got a taxi as I had not printed out a map and would have got lost, that was about 6 euro I believe. But on the return back to the railway station I walked - and it was no problem at all. Let me know if you want any other info.
