Ballooning in Tuscany?

Hello-
Has anyone on the board tried this service?

http://www.ballooningintuscany.com/

Thinking of booking the champagne breakfast tour for our May honeymoon. Would like any input on your experience with this company.

Thanks in advance.

Flygirl did some ballooning in Tuscany during May. Here's a link to her trip report.

The as-yet unfinished trip report, oh the shame! Jodee, it was fabulous and I will finish my report. I'm heading back to Italy in a mere 4 months (a little less actually) and am going ballooning again with Robert. In May as a matter of fact - wouldn't it be a hoot if we were sched the same day.

I will finish the report and put up more photos very soon!

oh heck, here are the ballooning photos at least - still not even linked to my Italy report from last May.

I ballooned with Robert several years ago. The southern Tuscan countryside is beautiful.

I see the price has increased but it is still a memorable experience. I recommend this company.

Happy honeymoon!

Ok yes that did it. We're doing the ballooning!

Flygirl I believe we're in Tuscany 5/23-5/25 which looks like the exact timing of your pictures in the previous year. I hope the weather is as good. One more tiny question: Did you have trouble with this part of the agreement?

"You are required to arrange a valid travel insurance policy before departure, or have healthcare insurance with international coverage"

I will admit that part is kind of scaring me. I know the reasons why and it's expected but to see it in writing... yikes. If I have United (which I do) do they automatically insure internationally?

Hey, we are going to be as well! The afternoon of the 23rd we take off for Rome. Where are you staying in the area? We are staying in Pienza - same place as last year (Il Chiostro di Pienza). If you have not secured arrangements I give them high thumbs up. And I really love the little town of Pienza.

My workplace insurance covers me anywhere I go in the world so I didn't even give that a second thought. He didn't ask however if that helps.

I guess you will be at least one of the readers of my final Italy trip report, eh? ar ar ar

Very funny! We'll be doing the reverse as we'll be coming from Rome on 5/23. And, as an aside, you completely answered my question.

We're basing further east in Umbertide at La Chiusa:

My fiance has been going to Italy for the past 15 years and for as long as I've known him he's talked about La Chiusa.

Thanks for all the input!

cool! Keep in mind that you'll need to be there around 6 AM so it may be a long-ish drive in the dark - if you can, a dry run the night before isn't a bad idea. The only marking to show his home (which you cannot see from the road) is a small white balloon on a post at the end of his long drive.

Or maybe just that one night stay in lodging nearby?
