Bad news from Mykonos

Only 1 cruise boat, a real exception!
Greek Press release:
The 2024 cruise season for the island of Mykonos concluded in late November, marking a new record for the island, according to Mykonos Port Fund President Athanasios Kousathanas-Megas.
The island welcomed 768 cruise ships and over 1.29 million passengers during the year, surpassing the previous year’s figures of 749 ships and 1.19 million passengers.
“2024 was not just a record year for Mykonos, but also a year in which we focused on enhancing our infrastructure to improve the visitor experience,” Mykonos Port Fund President Athanasios Kousathanas-Megas said. “This year was significant as we succeeded in extending the cruise season, and in 2025, cruise ships will begin arriving in February and continue through December.
The port fund’s president outlined the ongoing investment in key infrastructure projects that aim to improve both the operational capacity and aesthetic appeal of the port. One major project involves the construction of four new docks for large vessels.....

Good grief, that is so depressing.
More tourists overrunning the place whilst not spending much, if any, money and even more pollution from those monstrous mega ships.
I'm glad the port fund manager is happy, he gets the berthing fees of course, but I doubt many residents see any benefit from it all.
Some places do not seem to learn from others experiences.
