Back from Paris (Rue de Sevres)
Hi Everybody:
Just back from our vacation in Paris. Had a wonderful time. Weather was perfect; temp. in the mid 60's and only one day of rain. The apt. at Rue de Sevres is cozy and comfortable, with two bedrooms and excellent kitchen and bathroom, fully equipped with very nice furnishings. The apt. faces Rue de Sevres and can be noisy during the day, but at night traffic slows down and the noise did not bother us (the apt. has double glass windows). Rue de Sevres is a great location. It has everything you could possibly want, including the Bon Marche with its great Epicerie! It has two metro stations close by, and plenty of other shops and restaurants. The owner described the apt. quite well, and there were no surprises. It was very easy dealing with him, and he tried to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. We would not hesitate to go back. In fact, already planning another trip, but next time for at least two weeks.
Would highly recommend the Carte Orange. Used it everyday, and got our money's worth. Also, through a recommendation from a Fodorite, dined at Le Bistro de Breteuil. Great food and very reasonable prices for Paris! Well, as promised, I have given you a brief account of our trip.
Any questions, please ask.

OK: Some of you asked for more details, so here I go.
We rented the apartment directly from the owner. He is an American who lives in Indiana and owns two apartments in Paris. Very nice person and easy to do business with. He has a webpage with all the information. It is www.lacigaleparis.com
We took advantage of the apartment, and we ate in several times. Having La Grande Epicerie de Paris nearby, with all sorts of delicious food helped a lot!
As for restaurants, we went twice to Le Bistro de Breteuil. Very good food, excellent service, reasonable prices, and within waking distance from the apartment. Another one we liked is Le Petit St. Benoit on Rue Benoit, right off Blvd. St. Germanin. Both were recommneded in this forum.
We walked a lot. Visited the Louvre again, and the D'Orsay, the Rodin, and the Picasso museums. Loved the D'Orsay.
We really lucked out when we decided to visit the Sacre Coeur on a Saturday. It so happened, that on that day, they were celebrating the annual "Fete des Vendanges" It was great. There were many stands selling wine from different
regions. A glass a wine for 2 to 5 euros. After 2 or 3 glasses of wine, we were the happiest people in Paris! There was music, artists exibits, and of course food. The weather was gorgeous that day, and the view from the Sacre Coeur is fantastic. This is the only day of the year when they allow the public to visit the last working vineyard in Paris, right there in Montmartre. Also saw the house where Renoir lived right there in town.
Another very interesting place is Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Real beautiful. Visited the graves of Chopin, Edith Piaf, Sarah Benrhardt, and Oscar Wilde.
Well, this is all for now. If you have any particular questions, just ask.
A bientot.
