Back from Paris last night!
Just back from 10 days in Paris!! Weather ranged from really cold to warm and sunny, but overall our week was great. We lost one day to food poisoning (mine), but still managed to see a lot. Please let me know if I can answer any questions. And if you want to see a few pictures, they are at: http://www.kdkdesign.com/paris/paris.html.
Kimberley

Thanks for letting us see your great pictures! Looks like you had a wonderful time! We are only going to be there for 3 days - what attractions would you recommend or skip? How was Jules Verne? Did you need to make reservations ahead of time? I saw your picture in front of Louis Vuitton - how did the prices compare to US? Yes, please post a trip report.

I'll write a trip report - haven't gotten to it yet. In the meantime, I can answer questions...
Jules Verne definitely needs a reservation and they book up weeks and weeks ahead of time, which is why we had lunch instead of dinner (I made my reservation 4 weeks ahead, and dinner was already booked for all 9 nights of our stay). However it is really worth the effort - it is expensive, but such a fantastic experience. The quality of the food is beyond criticism, rivaled only by the quality of the service. And the view, of course, is unmatched. The prices in the Louis Vuitton shop are quite similar to the US, but the prices in the Fendi shop (just off Champs Elysees) are substantially less. For example the Zucca baguette, which retails for $525 US is $375 there. Many Chanel products are also a lot less in paris (a brush set I recently bought here for $175 was $80 in the Chanel store!!). We had a great time at the Moulin Rouge - a bit tacky maybe, but really spectacular and fun. Also enjoyed strolling around the Luxembourg Gardens and the Rodin museum. I might skip Versailles - it's absolutely beautiful, but the crowds were really prohibitive and serisouly affected the experience.
Kimberley

Sorry, Shutterbug, I posted my last reply before I saw your question. I've been doing the digital thing for a while, but never trusted anything but real film for important pictures. This was my first attempt at digital-only and I'm completely thrilled with the result. I'm developing at shutterfly.com instaed of on my ink jet, because the quality really is so much better. The higher cost of developing is offset by the fact that we only develop the ones we want. I used a 3.3 megapixel Olympus Camedia 3030 supplemented as needed with an external .45 macro wide-angle, 2.5x telephoto (in addition to the camera's zoom) and a UV filter.
kimberley
