B&B in York

Hi,
My husband and I will be in York for 2 days in April and are looking for a B&B near (or in) the centre of the city. We want to park our car and use our feet? Any suggestions on where to stay?
We stayed at The Hazelwood and would stay there again. Their email is
[email protected]. We had a large ground floor room with access to a sitting area with refrigerator.
Some suggestions for you: take in a Ghost Walk at night, walk the city walls at dusk, the York Castle Museum with old shops complete with goods and learn the evolution of the flush toilet ! Also, walk about the ruins of St Mary's Abbey.

We also stayed at the Hazelwood. They have a parking space in the back and is located just outside the city wall. I think I had to pay a non refundable one night stay to make a reseration there.

You are correct about parking the car and using your feet. The car is useless to explore the center of York. Before we got there, we didn't have a good sense of the size of the city. The core of the city is very small and few streets outside the wall is still very close to the center of the city.

A good site for B&B/hotel accommodation in the UK is www.smoothhound.co.uk. You can check prices and facilities, get a map of the location, and usually see an online brochure.
