oh stay at Cullinans James and his wife are wonderful as are their girls He is a fantastic chef as well as a musician --plays the fiddle, and you will be right in the middle of the pubs so you can walk from one to the next. Cullinans rooms are very nice, pinewood, and there is a fabulous restaurant right there where James is the cook.

Cullinan's does not do dinner every night. They do an "early bird" when they are open. If their restaurant is open on the night you are there it is well worth eating at Cullinan's. I have friends in Ireland who say the best mussels they have had anywhere are at Cullinan's. My husband agrees but I am not into mussels.

Not that you need any more endorsements, but I'll go ahead and throw mine in as well for Cullinan's. While I regreted choosing Doolin for an overnight stop (lack of stuff to do), I must say that Cullinan's was the nicest b&b I've stayed in Ireland. The beds were very comfortable and the bed and bath linens were great. Breakfast nice too.

I meant to add that if you do book one of the rooms on the back, you will have a bit of a view: a fairly strong stream runs right past your balcony toward the ocean. There are campers on the bank opposite, in their tents usually, and cows grazing in the fields. Lots to look at, really, although it does not compare to the ocean, and the cliffs.
The quality of your dinner will more than compensate...

FYI, The new Hotel Doolin is just across the street from Cullinan's. They have a very nice pub. The music was not trad the night I was there. But on some nights they do have trad. James and Carol will know what is on in Doolin. Ask them when you are there.

I realize I'm a bit late but last fall I stayed at Toomullin which is just past McDermott's. I can't speak for the other pubs, but McDermotts had some of the best food I had on the whole trip. The Irish Stew is unbeatable. Have fun! I'm already dreaming of going back!

In respose to Hesters comment about thin walls at Sea View House.
All the internal walls in Sea View House , including bedrooms and bathrooms are constructed using 6 inch solid concrete blocks, plastered on each side and built on concrete floors.
While this type of construction on 1st floor rooms is not typical, it ensures quiet rooms.
If Hester could hear the guests in the next room then the guests must have been very loud indeed, and it certainly was not due to "Thin Walls"

I stayed at the Doolin Activity Lodge this past July with a group of 5 others. I was thrilled iwth our accommodations there. The beds were comforatble, parking abundant and breakfast was quite tasty.
I am glad that Niall weighed in on the SeaView. They have a great B&B there and I was surprised that anyone would complain about thin walls or anything else fo rthat matter. I have stayed in very few B&Bs in Ireland in which the walls were thin, some hotels but never B&Bs.

If you decide on a hotel rather than B and B, we really liked the Aran View..a lttile longer walk to "town"..but very comfortable.
LOVEJOY: maybe you can help me with a problem re: Picassa. Your photos are great, and I viewed the entire slide show...but I've never figured out how to do that. I've been sending individual photos to family and friends, but could never do what you did, and post on this Forum. Any tips?
