I learnt to sail a dinghy in Paimpol harbour so I guess I may be on your men's side of the fence. Ile de Brehat (prn Bray haa) is very pretty, you could take a picnic one day (there were sea side type shops on the island in my day). Tregier was ok and then you are down to traveling inland a lot. August in Brittany is a pain as the Parisians are in town, Mrs Bilbo says go to Quimper and I prefer St Malo, Dinan and Dinard. Of these Dinan offers true medievel buildings, Dinan is Chi-chi and St Malo great eats.

Good luck and drink a lot of cidre
