autoeurope car drop

We will be dropping off our rental car at malpensa in florence, I just heard from a woman who couldn't find the avis counter and couldn't get any one to understand her so she left her car in a parking lot.. apparently the rental car counters do not have signs?? any one else had this problem .. thanks in advance.

Hi Maureen,
Haven't been to that airport but perhaps that woman was looking in the "departure" area. Just a "shot in the dark" but I 'd guess it wouldn't be the best place to have a car rental desk, tough to rent cars to people that are leaving). I found the Malpensa Airport website and they said there are 6 rental counters in the "Arrivals" area and I'm sure 1 of them would be Avis.
HTH Regards, Walter
p.s. saw your "Whoops" post, so to anyone responding Maureen meant Milan not Florence. Hopefully someone can give you more detailed info.
I dropped a car at Malpensa last August and it was a little confusing. The rental car companies were in the far end of a building adjacent to the terminal. You actually had to drop the car off in a parking lot several hundred feet down the road. No real signs to speak of. Actually the lot was full and there were no spots for the car so I double parked it behind a bunch of cars.

It is my understanding that a new airport opened there. I hope so because it was a very confusnig place.

thanks walter for the ideas, about the arrival area, would never have thought of that, and for taking the time to go to their site, your posts on web sites have been great, and Chris, thanks I will ask when I pick up the car where to go...

I have rarely not had a problem dropping off a car at Italian airports. There just a little more "laissez faire" than we are - things are not necessarily well marked, etc.

(Your idea about the arrival area is brilliant!)

My only point is to make sure you leave extra time at the airport to sort out the confusion...
