attractions around Milan Centrale Train Station

What is there to see, do or shop that is close to the Milan Centrale Train Station? We are going to take the train from Venice to Milan before spending the last night in a hotel close to the airport. We wanted to see (or shop) a few places before going to the hotel. I read that you can store your luggage for a small fee at the train station.

Store your luggage at the station, and then take the metro to the Duomo area.

Hi

I agree with Jean. Try to get your luggage stored and then take the metro the short distance to the Duomo area. Here is my Milan trip report with pictures http://gardkarlsen.com/italy_milan.htm

There is a Hop on/off bus tour of Milan with a stop close to the station. You could get off this at the Duomo stop and visit this and La Scala, it also stops at the castle, cant think of the name at the moment.

Milan's Duomo is, IMHO, just another pompous and recent Italian cathedral. But scout around inside the Rinascente department store on its northern side, and you'll find a cafe at the same height as the cathedral's roof. Really fascinating views of its gargoyles.

Walk north from Piazza Duomo across Pizza della Scala, up Via Manzoni, to the Poldi Pezzoli museum. Arguably the loveliest small museum in the world, as long as you don't get stuck in its tedious collection of weapons and armour.
