Another interesting tidbit. Was in London last week & used my ATM card. (as I always do). In the states, when I use my Bank of America card (for a normal USD withdrawal) at a Wells Fargo ATM, I get charged a fee by BOTH banks. In London, I was NOT charged a fee by the London bank, only was charged by my bank.

I have B of A and am never charged a fee of any kind..it may depend on the kind of account you have.. I am Advantage..and my exchange rate is good!

You need to call your bank and check it out if it is worth the 2 or 3 dollars you may be charged, depending on your account. I use credit cards everywhere..yeah I know I pay a premium but the miles I get are worth it to me.I only use cash for walking around money and for restaurants that don't take CC's...and yes there are some that operate that way!

The original question was " ATM's at gatwick...this has really gone off on the great tangentinal swing!

Yes there are ATM's at gatwick..everywhere. But if you are as lazy and sleepy when you get off a flight as I am..pick up a 100 pounds or so before you leave home..it may cost you $5.00 or so but it is a reassurance to arrive with money in hand!
