Athens favorite restaurants
We are in Athens!! We have eaten in sidewalk and garden cafes in the Plaka, and had coffee in Koliniki (sp?). We would appreciate any recommendations for specific restaurants before we leave for Santorini!! Our concierge just keeps saying, "Go to the Plaka." Thanks,

Well,
For Mediterranean taste, try 'AIOLI' which is in Glyfada. The address is 9 Artemidos str., Esperidon Sqaure. Tel: 2108940181. You can go there by tram.
For Vegetarian food, go to 'EDEN'. It is close to Plaka, The address is 12 Lissioy street and Mnisikleous. Tel: 2103248858
For Greek cuisine go to 'RENE TIS FTELIAS'. The address is 28, 25th March str., Íeo Psyhiko, tel:2106743874, 2106748718
Also, you can go to 'MILOS ESTIATORIO', which is at Hilton Hotel. The address is 46, V.Sofias Avenue but it is expensive (it is worth it though)
Should I say, the best places are outside the center of Athens and in suburbs, like Psyhiko, Ekali, Kifisia, Glyfada, etc. You should get the bus, tram, underground and visit these places. They are less touristy, but you will like them! Have fun!

A couple of ideas on the pricier side (around 80 Euros per person without wine):
"Varoulko" restaurant (80 Pireos St., across the Keramikos archaeological site): Seafood with a creative touch, splendid view of the Acropolis from the top level tables.
"48 the restaurant" (http://www.48therestaurant.com/): Fine food, spectacular wine list.
"Spondi" (http://www.spondi.gr/): Ditto.
"Tudor Hall": On the top floor of the King George Hotel (Syntagma Square)- classy and easily accessible.
"Gefseis me Onomasia Proelefsis" (http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgr...erty_id=372474) In the suburb of Kifissia, a tad cheaper than the above. Cool cozy garden, excellent regional products from all over Greece and, again, extensive wine list.
Finally, in the heart of the Monastiraki flea market, and quite cheaper than the above, "Brachera" cafe - restaurant (http://www.brachera.gr). Again, magnificent view of the Acropolis.
Have a great holiday!
