assisi to trevi

I'm hoping to go to the Black Celery and Sausage festival in Trevi on a Sunday in October. We're staying in Assisi & while I can get to the Trevi train station, it looks to be a difficult walk up into town. From the Spoletina/Umbria Mobilita websites buses to town do not run on Sundays.

Will they put buses into operation on the day of the festival? Any other alternatives?

I guess you have no interest in renting a car? Driving in Umbria is very easy. Trevi itself is tiny so I'm not surprised the train station isn't close to the town center. That seems to be the case with many of the smaller towns in the region. I wish I had some other advice to give! Hopefully someone who knows more about the bus system will chime in.

Try entering the date on the bus website-

http://www.spoletina.com/

You can take a taxi if the bus is not running.

Sagra info you might find useful-

I forgot to add- do not try to walk from the station to the town. It's a winding road, all up hill and too far.

Trevi, like Assisi, is very high up above the train station -- a long, difficult walk!

It really might be worth your while to rent a car for even a few days during your stay in Umbria. Then, you can easily visit other hill towns not easily accessible by public transport. Trevi itself is an easy drive, less than a half-hour from Assisi.

I find it very easy to pickup and dropoff a car at Avis at the Foligno train station (Avis is literally attached to the Foligno station!)

We used Avis at the Foligno station too. Super easy. A car, even for just a day, would allow you freedom to visit some of the other smaller towns as well.

Thanks for the idea. I just checked Avis and the Foligno office is closed on Sunday. We'll be spending Saturday at the chocolate festival in Perugia so renting a car on Saturday isn't worth it.

Perhaps when we get to Assisi we can find some alternatives.
