Asolo Italy area

Hello, I am reading conflicting reviews about Asolo Italy. Some guides are stating it's a must see while others state that the city went downhill and is overrun by tourists and has lost its charm. I am planning on stopping in the area for 2 days for biking around the vineyards. Are there any other small villages anyone recommends as a base? Or is Asolo a great base? Also, after a brief stay in this area, I am looking to take a bus or train up to the dolomites for another 2 days.. any suggestions there would be helpful. I am thinking Bolzano area. Is it easy to get from Asolo to Bolzano?

We visited Asolo and found it slow and charming (but not a must see place), but that was some years ago (maybe 10 years) and perhaps it has changed. For transport to Bolzano, I'd start with rome2rio (click through to the transport provider links for timetables). If you could plot a route via Bassano del Grappa and Trento, I think that would be more scenic. Or via Belluno to Cortina. Of course, you could take the faster trains further south if desired.

Asolo - Bolzano/Bozen:
Take a shuttle to Ca Vescovo, then a bus to Bassano and a local train to Trento. Trento and Bolzano are both along the Brenner railway line Verona - Munich with freqeunt fast and local trains.
Asolo - Cortina d'Ampezzo:
Take a shuttle to Ca Vescovo, then a bus to Montebelluna and another one to Treviso where you board a train to Calalzo. There are regular buses Calalzo - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Toblach/Dobiacco.

We have enjoyed staying near Asolo in Bassano del Grappa with it’s Alpine feel and Palladian bridge.
