Ashford Castle or Galway

The castles around Galway are not available. Should I stay at Ashford Castle vs a 2 night stay at a Galway Hotel and go to Ashford Castle to see it? Which is better?

Whether you want to stay at Ashford Castle or not is up to you -- it is a lovely but expensive experience. However -- if you do not stay there you cannot visit Ashford Castle -- Access to the grounds and restaurant is limited to hotel guests.

Ashford is glorious and expensive, that would be your budget choice. Last May, you could visit Ashford with a restaurant reservation through Open Table or a Hawk Walk reservation.Galway is a different experience but more budget friendly. Obviously, check out the details before committing.

Maybe things have changed?? From their FAQs these two jump out: (looks like afternoon tea could be possible but my guess its is mostly fully booked up by guests)

• I am not staying at Ashford Castle but can I book a dining experience?

Unfortunately, dining is reserved for guests staying at Ashford Castle only. You may be able to dine with us for Afternoon Tea but please enquire to discuss availability.

• I am not staying at Ashford Castle but can I visit the grounds?

Unfortunately, the Ashford Castle grounds are
not open to visitors that are not staying at the hotel. You must be staying with us. For any queries,
