Art Hussey, another update

As many of us know, Art sold his house in California and planned to tour all over the US in his new RV. Here's an update posted by Art last December http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34547077

Unfortunately, Art has been hospitalized in Portland, OR for the past few weeks and the chances are he will remain hospitalized for some time.
I'm posting this message on the Europe board because Art has graciously shared his knowledge and his trip reports on this board.

It is my hope that as many of us as possible will send our "get well' wishes to Art.
Art is not able to get online at the moment so he will not see messages posted on Fodors. However, you can mail cards or notes to me and I will see that they are forwarded to Art.

Please mail your cards or notes to:
Judy Seale
1362 South Third Street
Louisville, KY 40208

Please write "For Art" on the back of the envelope; so that I know the card/note is for him and I can forward it to him unopened.

Judy, thank you. He was always one of my favorite posters and I considered him to be a friend. He was supposed to come visit me here in Cincinnati. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him.

In the past Art talked about being in a VA hospital. If he is in the VA in Portland, it is a great facility and in addition to the staff there are several local veterans service organizations that can help supply a bit of company and cheering up, as well as some practical assistance. Maybe some Portland area Fodorites might even be able to drop by...?

Let's make it a point to share pictures from the Indianapolis GTG with art, Judy.

Rather than a get well card, I bought some duplicate post cards which I'll bring with me to include in a "care package" from us when we get together.

Best wishes,

Rex

I had the pleasure of meeting Art at last year's San Diego GTG. He is a wonderful, intelligent man who is so passionate about travel! I also encourage fodorites in/around Portland to stop by and visit with him.

Thank you for posting this, Judy.

Thanks for posting, Judy.
I know how much Art values the friendships and connections he has made via Fodors and other net communities and I'm sure well wishes will bolster him wonderfully during this latest hospitalisation.
I'll be sending a card to you and/ or Linda as discussed.
x x x, Art.

I look forward to visiting Art when we are living in Portland.
I loved the photos of his new RV and feel terrible that he is not out riding around in it, enjoying his freedom!
My friends in Portland already give him my love but here is some more ..
Art!

I too have had the pleasure of meeting Art at a Chicago Fodors GTG -- he is a delightful person indeed!

Judy: Thanks for letting us know about Art's condition. I still have so many fond memories our our trip to Poland, Romania, Hungary and Germany even though 9/11 happened the third day of our trip. I was sure glad he was with me. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Historical note (conceivably this is only in my own perceptions)...

...the trip LindaL refers to - - was the first "Fodorites trip" (two or more people who did not now each other except through this forum, putting together a trip) - - preceding my own "Fodorites 2001 Italy trip" by 11 days.

How wonderful it is to open the thread this morning and see all the responses.

Let's do our best to show Art he's in our thoughts .
Please keep in mind that Art has no computer access for the time being which means he will not be able to see messages left for him on this thread.

Please snail mail cards or notes to me and rest assured I will forward them to Art in Portland.
You'll find the mailing address in my initial post.
