Arriving Athens at night
Hello, need some help. I am arriving Athens at night 23:00 and my hotel is the best western museum inn. I plan to take the X95 from the airport till syntagma square and then take a taxi to the hotel. As it is very late at night is it easy to take a taxi from syntagama? Where can I find it?

Syntagma Square is the most central spot on Athens, there are plenty of taxis waiting at the corner with Ermou street, just a few steps from the bus stop.
Your hotel is not far away from Syntagma, the taxi ride should cost around 7-8 euros.

We did this 2 years ago when our original flight had a delay and we missed connections, creating a travel nightmare and a very late arrival.
We did find out that the taxi fare is "fixed" from the airport to the city center - I cannot remember the amount - so we did take a taxi to our hotel. There was plenty of activity in the city in the middle of the night so I would bet you will be fine.
Good luck!

The fixed daytime rate for taxis is €38 but that depends on time of ARRIVAL at destination, not the time you get into the taxi. If you arrive at hotel after Midnight (which is inevitable) the fixed nighttime fare will be €55. I would instead advocate taking the x95 (for €6) to Syntagma, then a taxi to best western. you can just step out of x95 to the curb, flag a passing taxi in the next 30 seconds, and within a few moments be at Best western... at total cost of €13-14 instead of €55.

Hi,
I also arrived late in my Athen trip (later than you), then I took the same bus as you would. Syntagma square still had a lot of people at midnight (Ermou street nearby was almost as crowded as in daytime). You won't have any problem. You can even walk to your hotel from Syntagma square if you like. But taxi is cheap

you could pre-book an airport transfer with one of the numerous companies offering it, prices are a little bit more expensive than regular taxis but they are more safe and, in general they offer you meet and greet service that's means a drver will be waiting for you inside the airport. many companies are available, the most famous are international booking agents like holidaytaxis.com or resorthoppa.com, if you prefer you can check and compare prices from many of them with a price comparison search engine like cabissimo.com, i found from athens airport to city centre a price of 48 euros with them: https://www.cabissimo.com/airports/a...ns-city-centre
