Oh my sweet cmcfong, you are such a doll. Thank you for thinking of us.

I will be sure to post upon our return, you know, don't you guys feel like you are always a 'trip report in progress'?

I view my planning, executing, traveling so much differently since I began my "Fodors experience" about four years ago.

Our bags are packed and we're ready to go

Thanks for the well wishes! (You too, PM!)

Of course I am thinking of you, Tiff! For purely selfish reasons, I have to confess. I know I will get lots of information about Italy from you...great restaurants, hotels, sights....all of it.

Oh my cmc, I so know what you mean, I literally could read reviews of hotels and restaurants FOREVER, ha. (My healthy addiction)

Thanks Statia ~ well doll, you are the Venice PRO, and I have learned a lot from your wonderful reports, so thank you!

I have to share this with you guys ~ I had purchased a new little wallet, it's so tiny, perfect for travel (and after all, what better excuse to purchase a new accessory than a trip, right?!? ha)
Anyway...
In all of Kate Spade's purses and accessories, she has these little cards, in little envelopes, they all have a 'quote' and also information on cleaning the item purchased, etc. As I unwrapped my new item from it's Nordstrom tissue, I looked at the card, mine read:
"Occasionally she dreams of Italy, she dreams of cheese shops, persnickety Fiats and very fine leather goods."

Ha, even my DH thought it was a good omen, as I sat on the floor of our walk in closet and proudly held it up to him and said, "Look, honey!"

Silly and ridiculous, I had to share it.

DH is right! A wonderful omen of good things to come...though I would watch out for any persnickety Fiats.

SusanP ~ I loved your report 'never met a limoncello I didn't like' and it was a great resource for us, as was...
TexasAggie's, 12 Days of Pizza, great read!

I LOVE trip reports and have read so very many, loving each one's own personality, so thanks everyone, you helped plan our journey!

Thanks too CAPH!

I'll take good notes, I promise.

Hint at things to come... I think I have just a couple things to report back on that I couldn't find a lot of information on here, so it might be helpful, good, bad, or otherwise.

I remember the first time I met Tiff on this board. She was asking if there would be seating in the outdoor cafes in Florence in the month of January. She promised a chocolate bar to whoever answered. I told Tiff that when I was there in November a few years ago they did have outdoor seating with mushroom heaters.

I never got my chocolate bar, but I made a new friend. Friends are just about the only thing is this world that are better than a chocolate bar.

PM ~ (laughing out loud) Ahhhhhhhhh, to lure with chocolates, my wicked, wicked ways. Indeed, friends are the only thing better! Well said.

Mimi ~ Thanks for the virtual tasty and visual treats! Too cute.

Have a wonderful trip Tiff. And think of this week's (hopefully brief) cold snap as an excuse to buy lovely Italian leather gloves, and cashmere sweaters and scarves...
Where in Italy are you headed for this trip?

Hi Btilke ~ We will be in Florence and & Venice.

I love your outlook, yes, what a lovely reason, hee, sometimes unexepcted weather can be a good thing.

We hail from Minneapolis, so we are sadly (ha) used to cold weather. We are hoping for high 40's in Florence and at least low 40's, high 30's in Venice, we'll see what we get. We're prepared with clothing (layer, layer, layer, ha).

I personally don't rate the weather on temps, but more on wind, rain, etc.

Whatever the case, we'll have fun ~ my favorite day in Rome the last time was a rainy day, it was spectacular, and quite scenic.

Thanks for the good wishes, Tiff

I'd gladly take Italy any time of the year regardless of the weather!

Here's to eating lots of gelato...I hope you have a wonderful vacation!
