If I was visiting Paris on May 2005, I would plan accordingly! Locations around the St. Germain area will be used for the film. The screenplay has been written by the same writer for the screenplay version for "A Beautiful Mind" and "Memoirs of a Geisha". It's sounding promising

BTW, Cruise and Spielberg are filming an action sequence a few miles from my house. The scene will be used in the upcoming "The War of the Worlds". They have lucked out today-- weather in the 40's. Cozy for Upstate NY. I was planning to sign up as an extra, until I was told I would have to jump from a ferry or dock into the water. Thanks, but no thanks.

I'll be in Paris from May 29 - May 31. Might be too late in the month to see any filming, but it would be cool. Staying in the 6th at Clos Medicis Hotel.

I live south of Albany, New York. The filming of "The War of the Worlds" is taking place in Athens, New York. The scene is a MAJOR action sequence; people running all over Main Street to some of Athens docks on to ferries. I am familiar with some of the Athens marinas and the business have been great; the locals are ecstatic.

According to one source (the film's producer) filming may not begin until July.

Boy, then I have to wonder what other Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" film have the local news been covering in Athens, NY since Dec 6th? Talk about a conspiracy!! They totally fooled me. Worse than that, they are completely fooling the population of Naugatuck, CT, where more scenes are being filmed this weekend as well. BTW, if you checked the local NBC affiliate (WSTM), they have been totally fooled as well. Check it out:
