Are we too late?

I just came across 400 francs. My husband and I are going to Provence at the end of May 2003. Will that be too late to convert them to Euros?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Erica

Hi Erica,

I think you will need to take them to a branch of the national bank, Banque de France (sp?) as the main baks will no longeraccept them.

Regards

Gregory

Hi

Gregory is exactly right.
The good news is there are many branches of B de F . Certainly most prefectures have one.

Peter
Thanks, Gregory and Peter,

I was reluctant to file these 200 each franc notes away as merely a pleasant memory of a lovely time.

Euros for an extra visit to a cafe, another bottle of wine, another chunk of cheese was more to my liking.

I appreciate your quick replies.

Erica

Dear Peter,

Alas, my ignorance rises to the surface. What is a prefecture? We'll only be in Provence with the biggest towns being Carpentras, Isle-sur-la-Sorge and Avignon. Will we find them there?

Erica

There may be a deadline when you can cash in your francs.
