Are there any reasonably-priced flights from Madrid to Lisbon?

I haven't been able to find anything less than about 200 Euro for a one-way trip bewteen Madrid and Lisbon in mid-May. Can anyone point me toward a less expensive option?

Is there a high-speed rail line that runs between the two cities?

Thanks.

This is one of the routes on Europebyair --

http://www.europebyair.com/eba/map/default.jsp

So you can fly this for $99 + airport taxes.

If you figure out which airline this is, you may be able to beat the price by booking directly with the airline.

Did you check whichbudget.com also to figure out which are the airlines that fly this route?

I'd forget about the train -- Spain and Portugal do not have easy train connections (at least that was my impression when I researched this last fall).

I did try whichbudget.com, and nothing seems to be available between these 2 cities.

Thanks for the europebyair idea.

Out of curiosity I went to Europebyair again, and Portugalia flies this route. I used them to fly from Lisbon to Malaga (also via Europebyair). We had a small plane but it all worked out just fine. I suspect service to Madrid is similar (maybe a larger plane?).

When I booked my flight I did try to go to Portugalia's website directly and it wasn't that easy to use. And I couldn't find anything that could compete with the price on Europebyair.

Perhaps Spanair flies this route too (and I'm sure Iberia does also).

Good luck.

Thanks 111.

I checked Iberia, they are almost $300 per person. Spanair does not list the route at all.

It looks like a 9 1/2 hr. train trip. Europebyairmight be the best option.

Either fly or take the overnight train.
