yes, the museum card can be purchased at the RER ticket kiosk btwn terminal 2c and 2e.
beside museums the card is also valuable for monuments such as notre dame, the arc de triomphe and the invalides to mention but a few and is, in fact, a VERY good idea.

There isn't really any reason to go out of your way at CDG to get the museum pass. It is available at any metro station in Paris. The pass may be a good purchase if you plan a concentrated amount of museum going. The line at the Orsay is a principle reason to have one, but most other places, including the Louvre, do not have daunting lines. But another plus for the pass is to perhaps see a museum that you might not otherwise visit.

I was in Paris in June. We took the rer to Paris and was planning on buying my museum pass at CDG from the advice of a poster on this forum. They did not have museum passes at CDG when I was there this summer. Are last stop on the metro was St. GErmain Des pres, that is where I was able to purchase a museum pass. By the way they are worth every penny! We saved so much time, plus we went to some museums that we might have not went to without the pass! Nissom Cammondo being one museum I would have skipped. So enjoy Paris and all the museums!

You can also pick up the pass at any museum. I usually pick it up at a smaller one because there isn't a line. The museum pass has typically paid for itself in time and flexibility if not money. If you get into a museum and find it too crowded or overwhelming but there is still more you want to see, you can leave and go back in without paying or waiting. That to me is worth the price of the pass.
