April in Greece, Islands and Turkey
We are taking our 14 and 18 yr old sons to Greece. Planning a few nights in Athens, Santorini and Istanbul at this point. Any suggestions on upper end hotels but still with the feel of the country? Also, could not log onto the ferry sight and am wondering if anyone knows if the ferry goes between Santorini and Naxos at that time of year. Seems a lot of the hotels I looked at open early May. thanks.

There is a daily car ferry between Santorini and Naxos all year long.
Check the Aspaki Suites and the Oia Castle. They're open in April:

Thanks. Checked out the site and they look really nice. From reading another post, it sounds as if this area is a bit quieter than Firas. Is it worth going to Naxos as it seems the closest or should we do the Crete thing?

Yes, Oia is quieter. Fira has all the nightlife while Oia's is limited to the restaurants, shops and a few quiet bars.
You haven't said when in April you'll be travelling. I hope you know that the first week of April is Easter week, the single-busiest travel week in Greece for the Greeks. Be sure to have all reservations locked down, especially if you plan to visit any of the islands. Hotels, ferries, and planes all experience extremely high demand then.
Naxos is an excellent choice as it is so close to Santorini and you apparently don't have a lot of time.

Of course that's when we're going!!! Would love to be in Greece for Easter but we would get there on Sunday and read a lot of places close for Easter Monday. Decided to go to Istanbul first then I guess back to Athens either stay there or go to Santorini....will be in Istanbul for 3-4 nights so we might miss the crowds?

If you don't get to Athens until after April 9 you should be alright, and the same goes for Santorini.
You'll love Istanbul, it's really amazing. Be sure to go to the Grand Bazaar. Start your bargaining at half of the asking price and work up from there. It's a lot of fun!
