thanks cailin..i posted another message about an apt. in the Born district that oh-barcelona.com has for rent. It is at the metro statikon Jaume 1. I'm trying to find out if this is a good area. also if you have any more information about the company? It appears that there is just one charge with no additional tax or cleaning. What apt. did you rent and was it clean and well represented on their website? How long ago did you use them? Any other info? thanks.

Hi bashful- My family of four just returned from 5 nights in Barcelona. We loved it! It's a beautiful city.
We stayed at an apartment hotel called the Hispanos Siete Suizas. We found out about it in Time Out Barcelona. We got two bedrooms, one queen and one with two twins, two baths, a living/dining room, and a mini kitchen (which we never used). It even had a small washing machine. It is located right near the Sagrada Familia-- not exactly in the middle of swinging action, but a very short cab ride. We are neither budget nor super luxury travelers( on oour own dime The Hispanos Siete Suizas cost us 240 euro a night and inlcuded a good buffet breakfast for all four of us. Our next least expensive and acceptable option was closer to the Placa Catalunya, but cost 300 euro without breakfast. We decided to save the 60 euro plus, and take cabs to and from our destinations, which only cost us another 10 euro a day. Our only disappointment there was dinner. My girls had made friends with Angel, the sweet piano player at the restaurant ( he saw my teens and invited them to play), so we decided to eat dinner there. Our worst meal. One the plus side, all proceeds for the restaurant and hotel go to cancer research.

As for the Born section, we loved it. Lots of good restaurants and shops. But my 13 year old was very scared by the dark narrow streets and druggy types in the Old City at night. I wouldn't stay there with kids. My first choice for locaton would be the Eixample (just as Maribel always says.)

Thank you for sharing your info. I have found an apt. on the www.oh-barcelona website. It's the Apt. Argenteria and seems quite a bargain for about 140 euros a night. It too is in the El Born district but we are 4 adults. However Hax, when I read that you paid 240 a night for your apt. I do have pause. I hope we are making right decision...only other thought is to rent two hotel rooms.

Just return from Barcelona a week ago. We rented an apartment thru BCNinternet . No problems with reservation. You just pay an initial fee and on arrival cash the balance to the person who gives you the keys. We rented the Modernista 3 apartment (just two blocks from Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya). If you have a lot of luggage make sure there is an elevator. Usually the apartment are on old buildings with very narrow stairs. This aparment was remodeled and well prepared for your basis neccesities (Toasters, Microwaves oven, etc). Hope this helps

Hi bashful!

I don't have the reference number for the Modernista 3 apartment, but if you type Modernista 3 + Barcelona in the website you'll have some Apartment rentals companies that will have this one for rent. (This apartment just have one bathroom)

A few other sites I have gathered:
http://www.waytostay.com/Barcelona-a...nts-en-52.html
http://www.habitatapartments.com/index.htm
http://www.cocoonbarcelona.com/Apart....php?langue=en
http://www.flatsbydays.com/barcelona/

I haven't rented through any of these sites, so can't comment on that.

Good luck!

We have just returned from a trip to Barcelona in September. We rented from BCNInternet.com and it was really good, right next to Las Ramblas, and just really good.
Free wireless as well.

This is a fantasic booking site still after all these years.

We stayed in an apartment in September 2008 just off Las Ramblas and it was great.

All arrangements were really good.

I will post some photos.

Regards,
Anne

We stayed in Ramblas D in an apartment building right on Ramblas just steps away from Placa de Catalunya. Excellent location. Lovely apartment. Family run business and they are a delight to work with.
