Apartment in Barcelona Barrie Gotic

I'm looking at a couple of apartments in the Plaza Del Pi area. One is through www.houseinbarcelona and is named Pi Entresuelo, one is through www.flatsbydays and the other one is through www.holiday-velvet and is named Plaza del Pi #1.

Anybody out there able to give me a review or report on any of these apartments?

Hi Caroltis, I see no one has answered you yet. We didn't stay in any of these apartments but we walked by the Plaza and these streets a few times 3 weeks ago. My only concern would be the proximity to Las Ramblas. That street and some areas of the Barri Gottic attracted an unsavory crowd at times. I know I was thinking I'm glad it's busy and the middle of the day but would I want to walk here late at night after dinner? No. We stayed closer to Santa Maria Del Mer church in the El born area and I felt very safe and comfortable there. My husband got the same wierd vibes walking through the Barri Gottic. We travel alot and are from a large city I always listen to my vibes and we've never had a problem. Hope this was helpful

Very helpful, thanks...not having ever been there it's so hard to know isn't it. My only concern about El Born area is that it just seems so far removed from everything else that we are going to want to see...cathedral, all the Gaudi structures, Ramblas, etc. Again, it's difficult to look at a map and know just how far it is from these things. I like to have the option of sightseeing for awhile...go back to the apartment and rest for awhile and then go back out again. What was your experience with the convenience of El Born?

Barcelona is easy to get around.
You can walk to most attractions or take the Metro.
I am not fond of Ramblas area and would rather stay in El Born or
L'Eixample.

Hi carol,
Borne is actually pretty close to a lot of those sights. 5-10 min to Cathedral, you can easily walk from there up thru plaza catalunya to Passeig de Gracia where a bunch of Gaudi stuff is. I walked to Parc Guell from Borne about an hour or so by the buses and subway are really easy to use. Plus from Borne it is a quick walk to Rambla, Port Vell and even the Port Olimpic area.

With respect to weasel - I just spent two months living in an apartment about 50 metres from the Holiday Velvet Plaza dei Pi apartment and have to disagree about the comment about the proximity to Las Ramblas (great, convenient, close to the Boqueria) and the unsavory crowd (walked around at all hours of the day and night - felt perfectly safe - my teenage goddaughters felt perfectly safe as well).

Here's a link to my blog - lots of photos of the immediate area - happy to answer any questions.

Well, we may not even have the option to rent this particular apartment. The leasing agent has not responded to my emails the past few days. Not sure what the problem is. When attempting to book online, when I get to the part where I have to check that I have read the conditions of the lease before it will proceed...I click on the conditions and terms and it won't open. I'm hesitant to commit with my credit card and deposit before i know what their "terms" are. Hopefully the agent will get back with me soon.
